under に導かれる句が主語になることがあります。

• Under the oak cabinet is a set of vintage dishes.
  (オーク材のキャビネットの下には, ヴィンテージの食器が並んでいます)

「<山> のふもとに」の意味で使われることがあります。

• A village under the hill is surrounded by lush greenery.
  (丘のふもとの村は豊かな緑に囲まれています)

「<島など> の陰に」の意味で使われることがあります。
